Corruption Skits: Ganduje’s Camp Hits Back At Dan Bello
Critic, Muhsin Ibrahim, has publicly rebuked popular skit maker, Dan Bello, over his constant outspoken satirical criticism of corruption in Nigeria.
GWG.ng reports that this is coming amid the call of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the arrest of the influential skit maker over his public exposure of a top-ranking party chieftain in Kano alleged to have stolen billions of naira from the public treasury while Dr Abdullahi Ganduje was in power.
In a viral video, Dan Bello had recently exposed an alleged theft of public funds worth billions of naira by a commissioner who served in the Dr Abdullahi Ganduje administration.
Following this, Ibrahim took to his social media accounts to caution Dan Bello to thread softly, stressing that his American citizenship does not guarantee an absolute protection against deportation, should in a case where he has stepped the limits.
Ibrahim wrote, “Dan Bello’s skits are still a hot topic. I’m glad to see my friends’ posts about him. Their discussions also gave me the confidence to share quick thoughts on his skits.
“Dan Bello’s rare brilliance is fascinating. Dr Marzooq Ungogo said his consistency, originality, and use of unique software have contributed to his stardom. True. I will add audacity to the list of his admirable qualities.”
He continued, “I live abroad, but I am careful about what I post on social media. I’m not ready for a life in exile. I also don’t want to constantly watch my back when visiting Nigeria.
“Dan Bello is an American citizen, but the US does not have the omnipresent power to protect him. Thus, he should be a bit more circumspect. We should prioritise our safety as much as we want to see a better Nigeria.
“He should also be more diligent when researching for his skits. Some of his claims need to be factually substantiated. Although widely accepted, some of his audience require, even request, evidence to be convinced.”
Ibrahim lamented that the skit maker had previously refused to hid corrections.
“Finally, he should listen to honest critics. No one knows everything; we are all fallible. I have witnessed him ignoring corrections. Wrong, he should do better. Not all critics are detractors. May Nigeria prosper, amin.”
However, Ibrahim’s statement has since drawn mixed reactions on X. While a section of netizens on X sided with Ibrahim, others perceived the statement as a manipulative tool to silence the skit maker.
