Second Female Chief Justice Emerges As Ariwoola Retires
Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, succeeding Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who recently retired.
Justice Kekere-Ekun, who was previously the second most senior justice on the Supreme Court, now becomes the second woman in Nigeria’s history to hold the esteemed position of Chief Justice. She follows in the footsteps of Justice Mariam Aloma Mukhtar, who made history as the first female CJN, serving from 2012 to 2014.
