Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, has addressed recent reports circulating that its official website, https://www.gtbbank.com, was hacked.

The bank clarified the situation in a statement titled “Clarifications on News Reports Regarding The Bank’s Web Domain and Customer Data,” assuring customers and stakeholders that there was no breach of sensitive information.

The statement explained that while there was an isolated attempt to compromise the bank’s web domain, the website was not cloned, and no customer data was at risk. GTBank emphasized that customer information is not stored on their website, thus ruling out any possibility of a data breach.

“Our dedicated team of Information Security Experts is working around the clock to restore domain settings, and we can assure our customers that our website will be up shortly,” the statement continued.

GTBank urged its customers to disregard the misleading media reports and reiterated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding customer data. The bank also expressed gratitude for the continued support of its customers.

This clarification comes in response to growing concerns among customers following the reports of a potential hack. GTBank’s swift response aims to reassure users of the safety and security of their personal information.
