Nigerian UK Toilet Cleaner, Others Share Jappa Stories (Videos)
Videos capturing surprising experiences of young Nigerians that moved out of the country (Jappa), in search of greener pastures, have emerged on social media.
While attempting to compare the cost of living in America and Nigeria, a young Nigerian, who currently schools in America, shocked netizens with the outrageous sum of money he spends on fueling, house rent, health care and schooling.
He began, “Can you imagine that I’m buying fuel in America for 5,500 Naira per litre? It’s crazy! And even with that sef, Na me go still serve myself.
“As if that’s not enough, I live in a two-bedroom apartment where I pay a staggering $2,000 every single month.
That is about N3,154,000, N3,154,000 every month.
As if that’s not enough, I got a medical bill of $1,271. For medical bills, Hospital fees, because of a couple of vaccines that I took.
“And the sad thing is that I work for the American government, which means I have one of the best insurance in the country. And that means that I will pay some, they will pay some. And my sum is more than $2,000.
While relating his experience to Nigeria, he said, ” The bottom line is, I see people saying, oh, when I was in Nigeria, I was earning N500,000 per month.
“And now I’m in the U.S., I’m earning more than N6,000,000 every month. Please, the bottom line is, we do not spend in dollars.
“And there’s more pressure here than actually back home. We have to pay our rent every single month. And it’s so expensive. So, to compare these two scenarios is actually quite silly.”

In another case, a viral video captured a young Nigerian lady in a toilet, warning Nigerians not to sell their properties to jappa, citing unpleasant experiences.
According to her, a man advised her to sell her store in Nigeria and land, in order to jappa from the country in search of greener pastures.
She said she ended up becoming a toilet cleaner in the UK instead of landing a N2 million dollar job as she was promised.
