Nigerian singer Oluwajuwonlo Iledare, popularly known as Jaywon, has criticized Kogi Senator Sunday Karimi for what he described as a lack of tangible achievements during the Senator’s eight-year tenure in office.

In an Instagram post, Jaywon expressed his disappointment with the Senator’s performance, particularly in his own constituency, where the singer claims there has been little to no progress over the years.

“With a heavy heart, I write this. It’s truly sad that Senator Sunday Karimi has spent eight years in office, yet there’s absolutely nothing to show for his time as a representative of his own constituency,” Jaywon lamented.

He highlighted the ongoing struggles faced by Egbe, Karimi’s hometown in Yagba West, Kogi State, stating that the situation has only worsened over time.

“It’s disheartening to have a leader you once had high hopes for, only to witness zero impact in the constituency, particularly in his hometown of Egbe,” Jaywon continued. “The community deserves much better than empty promises and a lack of progress, especially with the abandonment of the power plant project the government promised.”

Reflecting on his childhood in Egbe, Jaywon recalled a time when the town had better infrastructure, including well-maintained roads, which he claims have since deteriorated under Karimi’s watch.

“It’s high time to put an end to bad governance,” the singer concluded, calling for leadership that truly serves the people and brings about meaningful change.

GWG.ng reports that Senator Karimi had following the public outcry over the N160m purchase for each senator had said that the vehicles were meant to help the lawmakers navigate the country’s bad roads.

“These vehicles that you see, go to Nigerian roads today. If I go home once, my senatorial district, I come back spending a lot on my vehicles because our roads are bad.”

The assertion by Senator Karimi of bad roads in his constituency have now been echoed by Jawon.
