Sports World Mourns As Veteran Nigerian Journalist, Dies

Veteran Nigerian Sports’ journalist, Jacob Zango, has passed away in Kaduna State following a brief illness.

GWG.ng gathered that the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter, in a statement on Friday, signed by its Secretary, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, disclosed that Zango died on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Kaduna SWAN Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi, expressed grief over Zango’s demise.

It added that Zango passed on when his wealth of experience was greatly needed in SWAN.

SWAN extended condolences to his immediate family, KSMC, the Atyap community, the Kaduna State Government, as well as all the friends and professional colleagues he left behind.

The statement read, “On behalf of all our members and SWAN President, Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, who is also from our state, we express our sadness following the demise of one of our veterans.

“While I was a staff of Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), where he worked until the unfortunate event, we were not just close, but like brothers,” the statement quoted the Kaduna SWAN Chairman.

“We pray that the Almighty God grants his gentle soul eternal rest.”
