I Can’t Be No 6 Citizen And Allow Labour Win Abia Again – Deputy Reps Speaker, Kalu (Video)
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has sparked a storm on the internet after he boldly stated that the next governor of Abia state will come from the All Progressives Party (APC) essentially because he is Nigeria’s number six citizen.
Kalu who stated this during an interview, categorically stated that this will be the last time a governor from the Labour party will govern Abia state.
He also added that as the number six citizen of the country, he will not watch a governor from another party take over the leadership of Abia.
In his words, “This will be the last time that a Labour governor will govern Abia State.
I say it without musing a word. The next governor of Abia State will be an APC governor.
“So we are friends, yes. We work together, yes. But I will not be the number six citizen in the country and another party will govern my state.
“The next election will be in 2027, the APC governor will be there. I’ve told him in person, I’ve told him publicly and privately that APC governor will be the next governor of our state. How it will happen, I don’t know, but it will happen”
When asked why he was so confident about his plans, he replied, “I’m confident because we are working hard. I’m confident because my government is working hard.
“The president is working hard, and after that we’ll repay the president. A president that is appointing Abians into administration will be repaid. A president that is allowing the attraction of the dividend of democracy to Abians will be repaid.
“We are not ungrateful people. Monkey will not work and the baboon go chop. APC will not help the state to be strong and then labor will take the credit.
“APC will determine who becomes the next governor of other states. I don’t care about who the person is. The one thing I know is that the party platform, APC,will be the next governor of other states. Go and write it somewhere.”
