Police Invite NLC President, Ajaero Over Alleged Terrorism

The Nigeria Police Force has invited the National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, for questioning in connection with allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, and other serious charges.

GWG.ng reports that the invitation was detailed in a letter issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team, under the Department of Force Intelligence.

The letter, signed by Adamu S. Muazu, hints that Ajaero has been implicated in a case involving Criminal Conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion, and Cybercrime.

Ajaero is required to report to the police for an interview on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction in Abuja. The letter warns that failure to comply with the invitation could result in the arrest of Ajaero.

It read; “This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion, and Cybercrime in which you have been implicated.

“You are therefore required to report to the undersigned for an interview on Tuesday, 20th August 2024, at 10:00 hrs prompt, at Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja, through the Team Leader on telephone no 08035179870, in connection with the above investigation.”

The NLC has strongly criticized the government’s actions, accusing it of waging a campaign against the organization.

GWG.ng reports that this is coming after the NLC headquarters was raided by security forces, which the police claimed was aimed at apprehending an international terrorist suspect. The NLC, however, has dismissed this explanation as a cover-up, citing inconsistencies in the police’s narrative.

GWG.ng gathered that during a press conference held in Abuja last Thursday, the NLC leaders condemned the raid and demanded an apology from the government, the return of seized items, and the release of any detained individuals.
