Al-Hikmah University Denies Involvement In Death Of Female Student Found At Refuse Dump
The management of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State, has denied claims linking the institution to the incident involving the body of a female student found at a refuse dump site.
This was contained in a statement by the Information Officer of the institution, Femi Afolayan, in Ilorin on Wednesday in reaction to the claims of the police on the issue.
GWG.ng recalls that Mojisola Awesu, a student at Kwara State College of Health Technology, was found dead at a refuse dump after allegedly being lured by students of Al-Hikmah University to a party under false pretenses to act as a girlfriend for N15,000. Police have arrested several suspects and are investigating the case.
The statement reads in part; “the attention of the Al-Hikmah University has been drawn to a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer to the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya on the above subject.
“The reference to Al-Hikmah University in the release was made by the suspect who must have used the name of the University to lure the girl to achieve his devilish act.
“Consequently, we need to clarify that at no time did students of Al-Hikmah University organise such a party as falsely claimed by the culprit.
“This clarification becomes imperative to assure parents, guardians and the University community of the safety of all our students throughout their stay on our campuses,” the statement declared.
