Peter Obi Hails Newly Elected Asagba of Asaba

Opposition Party presidential candidate and former Governor of Anambra Governor, Peter Obi has described the election of the 14th Asagba of Asaba Kingdom of Delta state, Professor Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge SAN.,  as a square peg in a square hole.

Obi felicitated with the newly elected 14th Asagba of Asaba Kingdom of Delta state, via his official X handle.

Obi noted that Prof Azinge’s election falls in line with the long tradition of the Asaba people in going for excellence in their choice of leaders, particularly in their monarchical lineage.

“Prof Azinge is indisputably an excellent choice going by his exceptionally rich credentials in various careers as an uncommon scholar and erudite lawyer.

“I have no doubt whatsoever that the Asagba-elect of Asaba will bring his enviable wealth of experience to the royalty of the Asaba Kingdom,” he said.

Obi further pointed out that at this critical time, “Nigeria needs quality leaders in various segments of our leadership structure to reset this country for the required development and progress.”

He also commended the entire people of Asaba, particularly “the kingmakers, for the excellent and transparent process that produced the new Asagba  without rancor and bickering.”

Two days ago, GWG.ng reported that after a thorough selection process, the former Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, emerged as the 14th Asagba of Asaba, Delta State.

The Asagba-in-Council announced his selection as the most qualified among the 10 contenders in the race, who hail from Ugbomanta quarters and is to produce the next Asagba after Prof. Chike Edozien, who had since joined his ancestors.
