Nigerians React As Tinubu’s Men Set To Discipline Errant PDP Members
By Benjamin Abioye
The formation of disciplinary and reconciliation committees by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sparked significant concern among party members and the public.
The PDP, led by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, announced these committees to address internal issues and misconduct.
However, reactions have focused on the presence of members with strong ties to President Bola Tinubu and his All Progressives Congress (APC). Notably, the committees included figures like former Deputy Speaker Prince Chibudom Nwuche and Senator Olaka Nwogu, who are perceived as allies of Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Critics are questioning whether these committees can effectively handle party discipline. Some worry that the inclusion of Tinubu’s supporters undermines the committees’ credibility. Comments from the public reflect skepticism about their ability to address issues impartially, with many suggesting that the committees might be biased or ineffective. For example, one reaction asked, “How are Nigerians sure these committees aren’t bankrolled by Mr. Tinubu?”
Others expressed doubts about the committees’ power, with remarks like, “If the NWC of the party still remains then expect nothing from this committee.”
See other reactions below:
@Papa_Deem: How are Nigerians sure these disciplinary and reconciliatory committees aren’t bankrolled by Mr Tinubu?
@gbakasm: Will this committee be bold enough to tell Wike who’s he and what type of person he deserves?
@PatOnos2: If the NWC of the party still remains then expect nothing from this committee.
2027 I doubt if PDP will still have relevant
Given power to those who are against the party because of selfish gain is the most dangerous of it all
The party has been sold to APC
@Chubalus16: PDP is a joke. How on earth would someone like Chief Ulasi discipline Wike?
@Enwagboso: The PDP has been without a functioning Disciplinary organ for years, it appears?
unclechuks10: Pdp is sold to wike that’s why the man brag,bc even village club cannot tolerate such arrogance from a member. It is very unlikely that this committee will take any meaningful disciplinary action against @seyiamakinde or @GovWike. We can effectively predict the outcome of the committee’s report at this time.
@blessingofgo: Yeye party that is members working for APC
@torontoadangs: Wike in trouble 😀😀…..sha na him boys full there
@OtunbaFaleye: It’s a step in right direction, but constitution of the party should be observed and followed to the latest. Wike mentioned it during his one year in office Media chat. Let the party do the right thing without giving priority to sentiment and favorism.
@OkeyOnuoha2: The discipline should start with the acting national chairman and secretary. Wike and his concubines should expel. Any short of that is a mere academic exercises.
@sanniaanu1_1524: Disciplinary committee wey no fit deal with and expel Wike no be disciplinary committee o
@Atiscoira: @GovWike should be the first to be disciplined and probably expelled from the party
SamuelA24167498: For the 15th time in the last 4 months. And Wike is still not suspended
@DatNigerianMan: If the first action is not to discipline or EXPEL Wike from the party, then they should disband the committee and not waste the time of everyone!
@Buster5414: Nobody is talking ur party serious anymore until u sack Wike then maybe we will consider to look ur way again. Without sacking Wike,u re just a useless and hopeless party
@EricIfeany78035: @OfficialPDPNig Keep on deceiving yourselves. When you cannot suspend wike. The PDAPC spying machine
@Davidimiebi: If the party cannot take any disciplinary action against the so-called ‘inteegrity group ‘ they should forget 2027
@Gogofrancis: Dead on arrival, until Wike is out from PDP. In as much as Wike remains in PDP, the party is as good as dead. A man that openly worked against his party, winning and dining with the opposition party is same person the party wants to reconcile with. RUBBISH!
@BlaiseDemzi: All this rigmaroles just because of one man, someone who is working for an opposition party while still bearing the card of pdp. We ain’t serious yet.
