Omah Lay album idea

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has accused a fellow artiste of stealing the concept for his upcoming album.

Omah Lay revealed that he had shared his album idea with this colleague in the hopes of collaborating. However, the artiste proceeded to release an album featuring the same concept.

In an interview on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay explained that this situation forced him to re-record his album. He described his song “Holy Ghost” as a new sound he intended to use throughout the album.

Omah Lay said, “I shared an idea with a certain artist, and the artist went ahead and put out an album with my idea. I had to re-record my album.”

He added that despite his admiration for the artist, who had come to him for a potential collaboration, the release of the similar-sounding album was disheartening. “Five months later, he put out an album with exactly all the same sound that I shared with him,” Omah Lay said.

Ultimately, he had to go back to the drawing board, but he believes the revised album will become “the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.”
