NBA Mourns As Former State Chairman Passes Away

The legal community in Enugu and beyond has been thrown into mourning following the death of Dr. Jude Ezegwui, the former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Enugu branch. Dr. Ezegwui passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2024.

In a statement released on Friday, the current Chairman of the Enugu NBA, V.C Odo, expressed the profound sorrow felt by the association over the loss of one of its most distinguished members.

“It is with deep sadness and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of our esteemed past Chairman, Dr. Jude Ezegwui, on Wednesday, August 22, 2024,” the statement read. “This devastating news was confirmed by his elder brother.”

Dr. Ezegwui was a respected figure within the legal community, known for his unwavering dedication and leadership. He served as the Chairman of the Enugu NBA from 2020 to 2022, and prior to that, he held the position of Legal Adviser from 2014 to 2016. At the time of his passing, Dr. Ezegwui was serving as a Council Member of the NBA’s Section on Business Law.

His contributions to the Bar and the wider legal profession have left an indelible mark, and his legacy will continue to inspire his colleagues and future generations of lawyers.

The Enugu NBA has urged all members of the Bar to keep Dr. Ezegwui’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. The association also extended its heartfelt condolences and pledged its unwavering support to his immediate and extended family as they navigate this period of grief.
