End Of The Road For PDP, Dino Melaye Says
Former Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye has taken to social media to declare that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, has reached the end of its road.
In saying that the PDP has come to the end of the road, Melaye accused the party’s leadership, including the National Chairman, Secretary, and other key figures, of privatizing the PDP.
In a post shared on his Instagram page on Saturday morning, Melaye expressed his disappointment with the party’s current state. “End of the road for PDP as Damagun, Bature, and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party,” he wrote. “We will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time.”
Melaye’s remarks have sparked concern within the party, with insiders suggesting that the current National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP is aligned with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike. Wike, who is now serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has been accused of undermining the PDP from within.
Melaye promised to reveal more details about the alleged commercialization of the party in the near future, leaving many wondering about the future of the PDP as Nigeria’s leading opposition party.
Critics will add that in saying that the PDP has come to the end of the road, they would be looking out for the role that Melaye played having been the party’s candidate in the last governorship election in Kogi State.
