South African Lady Enlightens Countrymen Of Nigeria’s $61b Input To Their Freedom (Video)
Amid the ongoing strife that ensued between Nigeria and South Africa in the past weeks, a young South African Lady has taken to social media to enlighten her people on several amazing things Nigeria has done for their country.
Recall that weeks ago, the Nigerian-Mozambique model, Chidimma Adetshina, quit the Miss South Africa beauty contest after being webbed in controversies surrounding her nationality.
In a statement posted on its website on August 7, South Africa’s Home Affairs department, which oversees immigration, said it investigated Adetshina’s citizenship at the request of the pageant’s organizers and found that “fraud and identity theft may have been committed” by her mother to obtain South African citizenship.
Miss South Africa’s organizers acknowledged Adetshina’s withdrawal from the contest, wishing her “the very best and success in all her endeavors.” They added in a statement that the pageant “celebrates South Africa’s rich and inclusive culture and diversity.”
Taking to her TikTok account to express her displeasure over the harsh treatment of Nigerians by South Africans in a video which has gone viral, the young South African lady described the treatment as Afrophobia and advised her people to go and educate themselves on what Nigeria has done for their country.
She began, “Nigeria spent 61 billion dollars to help liberate our people from 1960 to 1995 in those 35 years.
“They also issued us passports when we needed it. You know what, I will just show you, you can go to the archives yourselves. You can do the history yourselves from 1960 to 1995. Nigeria spent over 61 billion dollars to support the end of apartheid and this is according to the South African Institute of International Affairs.
“This is the same Nigeria that set up the South Africa relief fund; the same Nigeria whose civil service is being used to support the end of apartheid; the same Nigeria whose public servants and public offices made a two percent donation from their monthly salary; and the same Nigerian students have skipped their lunch to make donations.
“By June 1977, in just six months, they were able to contribute 10.5 million dollars; they called it the Mandela tax. You want to know something, if you read the history, they were so proud to be contributing towards it. That’s why kids in schools were skipping the Mandela tax to be able to contribute to this fund.
The lady added, “This is the same Nigeria that allowed our South African students, our South African people to come over and study for free for free. They welcomed our exiles as well as Thabo Mbeki was able to benefit from Nigeria.
“This is the same Nigeria that their government issued more than 300 passports for our South African citizens, the same Nigeria that lobbied for the creation of the United Nations special committee against apartheid.
“If you don’t believe me go through the archives and do your fact check because the history is there and the research is there. It’s even coming from our own people, it’s all there.”
In the video, she strongly condemned the way Chidimma and her family were treated over their nationality, during the 2024 South Africa beauty contest.
