Brighton secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Manchester United in a Premier League match filled with excitement and controversy.

United thought they had taken the lead when Alejandro Garnacho scored from a Bruno Fernandes’ low cross with 18 minutes left in the game. However, the goal was ruled out after a VAR check determined the ball had brushed against substitute Joshua Zirkzee, placing him offside.

Brighton capitalized on this decision when Joao Pedro scored the winning goal, converting a Simon Adingra cross at the far post. This marked a dream start for Brighton’s new manager, Fabian Hurzeler, who took charge at just 31 years old.

Earlier in the match, former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck gave Brighton the lead in the first half with his fifth Premier League goal against his former club. He nearly doubled the advantage with a second-half header, but it struck the crossbar.

Manchester United briefly fought back, equalizing through Amad Diallo around the 60th minute. After Garnacho’s disallowed goal, United struggled to create further chances, with long-range shots from Scott McTominay and Casemiro missing the target.

The victory sparked celebration at the final whistle, with Hurzeler visibly thrilled. Billy Gilmour, who has been linked with a move to Napoli, was named Man of the Match, earning cheers from the Brighton fans who hope he remains with the club.
