Night NEPA Took Light As I Was About To Kill Snake Inside Our Parlour – Abuja Cleric
Abuja cleric, Pastor Femi Reis has charged teenage Christians to carry the light of God to navigate a world he said has been engulfed in darkness.
Giving the final charge of the Teenagers’ Week at the Hospital Chapel, National Hospital, Abuja the cleric captured the imagination of his congregation on the dangers of darkness with the scenario years ago when on a rainy night he discovered a snake in his sitting room. According to him just as he fetched a stick to kill the snake, the electricity company took the light.
Reading from Isaiah 60:2, the cleric noted that the situation of the world is not just darkness, but a gross darkness that necessitates for everyman to bear a light to navigate through.
According to Pastor Reis the demarcations of light and darkness are clearly marked out.
He went on to say that Satan’s objective is not to extinguish light which he knows he cannot do, but to discourage those who bear the light.
“Satan is not wasting his energy given the fact that he knows that he cannot do anything against light, so he turns his attention to light bearers.” The preacher said that Satan’s move is always to set imaginations of darkness to discourage those who bear the light.
He, however, assured that anyone who has the light and keeps to the light will surely navigate through the darkness successfully.
He averred that Satan does his mission by recreating and multiplying surrounding darkness doing this with the goal of discouraging those who bear the light of God in this dark world. Identifying what he meant by darkness, he said that anything that refuses to align with the will of God should be described as darkness.
“Things may not work the way you like but the issue is will you still bear the light. Many of the challenges you face are because you are a light bearer.
“What Satan wants to do to light bearers is to discourage them to the point of them dumping the light that they bear. Many of our teenagers have abandoned the faith because of weariness.”
In a charge he said was directed to teenagers and those he defined as diligent adults, he said: “Every weary man or woman you see today was once a hopeful teenager” who he said were along the way discouraged from holding the light that they once held.
Noting the specific plans of Satan in spreading darkness around, Pastor Reis said:
“Darkness makes you ignorant of the plan of God and also ignorant of the plot of the enemy. If you grope in darkness you will be ignorant of the plan of God for you and also ignorant of the plot of the enemy against you,” the cleric reiterated.
Giving a personal experience of groping in ignorance, Pastor Reis mentioned how when he was an undergraduate and was completely bereft of money and living elements that he adopted several strategies of living on a close friend.
After a brief period of depending on the friend even to the point of toothpaste, he said he put a call to his father who told him he had sent N50,000 to him many days ago.
Pastor Reis cited that as an example of how Satan makes people to grope in darkness despite the provisions of God.
On the other hand he said that Satan also enlarges darkness for the purpose of taking the advantage over the brethren who drop the torch of God.
He cited the example of how many years ago as a young man while watching a television programme on a rainy night he suddenly discovered a long snake within the sitting room. He said that he rushed to get a stick to kill the snake but just as he returned, the electricity company took the light frustrating his plot and giving the snake the advantage.
Though he did not say what happened thereafter, Pastor Reis cited that true life story as an example of how Satan aims to get the advantage over Christians by increasing darkness around them.
“Darkness gives the enemy an advantage over you, you cannot afford it,” he said.
He said that the counter strategy of God which he described as the divine strategy is in Jesus who he said has come as the Light of the world.
While noting that John, commonly referred to as the Baptist was described as the shiny light, Pastor Femi Reis said that the true light was in Jesus, The Christ (John 1:9).
With a specific charge to the teenagers, Pastor Reiss charged that God has enabled them to be even more than light bearers but flames of fire to impact and impart the world that is now in darkness.
GWG.ng reports that the service was concluded with prayers for the teenagers, their teachers and mentors bringing to a conclusion the teenage week that included camping in the church premises.
