Bichi: New Explanation To Celebration Of DSS Officers (Video)
A video of Department of State Services (DSS) officials at the headquarters supposedly celebrating the removal of Yusuf Bichi as the agency’s Director-General has been debunked as an old video.
Mr Mike Ejiofor, a retired director of the Department of State Services, DSS has debunked the trending video of operatives celebrating the removal of Yusuf Bichi as the DG of the service.
GWG.ng reports that a video that went viral on Monday night showed DSS officers celebrating enthusiastically what was claimed as their reaction to the news that Bichi had been replaced according to a video shared on X by public commentator, FS Yusuf.

The video showed both male and female officers, young and old, expressing their joy in the office. They were seen jumping, clapping, and offering thanks, with many observers left questioning the reasons behind their exuberant reactions to the resignation of their boss.
However, reacting to the development, a former director in the DSS, Mike Ejiofor, speaking on Arise News Television said:
“I saw it (video) yesterday. I want to tell you it is not true. It was a different event at about 2018. I can tell you that with authority. I agree, Mr Bichi is a human being. He is not a superhuman being, he has his strengths and weaknesses and you cannot hold him accountable for what was done by somebody else,” Ejiofor said on the video that portrayed DSS officers supposedly celebrating the removal of Bichi as DG.
GWG.ng reports that Bichi, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari on September 14, 2018, had served as the DSS Director-General of the DSS for nearly six years. His resignation comes on the heels of a similar move by Ahmed Abubakar, the Director-General of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), who submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu during a recent meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In the wake of these high-profile vacancies, President Bola Tinubu swiftly moved to appoint new leadership for the nation’s intelligence agencies. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has been named the new Director-General of the DSS, while Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the new head of the NIA.
The celebration within the DSS has left many in the public speculating about the underlying reasons for the officers’ apparent relief at Bichi’s departure. While no official explanation has been provided, the jubilant reaction has fueled questions about the internal dynamics within the agency during Bichi’s tenure.
As the dust settles on this significant leadership change, all eyes will be on the incoming Director-General, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, to see how he will steer the DSS forward and address any lingering issues that may have prompted such a reaction from the agency’s staff.
