A former beauty, Aderinoye Queen Christmas, once wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has turned herself in after managing to avoid arrest for about eight months.

Aderinoye, also known as Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, had been on the run after being accused of involvement in drug-related activities.

Authorities had declared her wanted after she fled her home in Lekki to avoid arrest.

The NDLEA received information linking her to illegal drug dealings, leading to a raid on her residence in January 2024. After months of hiding, Aderinoye voluntarily surrendered to the Lagos State Command on August 28, 2024.

Aderinoye is a former Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and runs the Queen Christmas Foundation. Reports suggest that since escaping the initial raid, she had been hiding in Akure, Ondo State.

During the raid at her Lekki home, NDLEA officers, along with estate representatives, found 606 grams of Canadian Loud (a strong type of synthetic cannabis), a weighing scale, a large amount of drug packaging material, and a black RAV 4 SUV with Lagos license plates, among other items.

In other related drug operations, NDLEA officers also seized 1,122 kilograms of cannabis from a suspect named Mustapha Ibrahim on Orchid Road in Ajah, Lagos State, on August 26. Another 816 kilograms of cannabis, belonging to a different suspect who is still on the run, was also found in the same area.

Speaking on the success of these operations, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the agency’s officers for their hard work.

He emphasized the need for efforts in both reducing drug demand and cutting off the supply as part of their ongoing fight against drug crimes.
