The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has strongly declared that he will not let anyone take control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.

Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State issued a stern warning to the PDP governors, saying he would create political trouble in their states if they tried to meddle in the party’s matters in Rivers.

GWG.ng reports that the PDP governors had at a gathering in Taraba State on August 23 voiced their support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, called for a review of the party’s congress results to help restore Fubara’s leadership in Rivers.

During a speech at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt, Wike asked the PDP governors to stay away from the party’s issues in Rivers State. He said, “Let me assure all of you, as long as we are alive, no one will take the PDP structure from us. I hear some governors talking about taking control of the structure and handing it over to someone else.”

Wike continued, “I feel sorry for those governors because I will cause trouble in their states. When God has given you peace, and you say you don’t want it, then whatever happens, you’ll have to deal with it. I heard they got some money from a signature bonus, and now they think they can interfere in my state. Get ready because I can do the same thing in your state.”

He added, “I don’t care if you are from Bauchi or anywhere else. If you try to get involved in Rivers State, you will get burned, and you won’t have peace in your own state.”

The PDP in Rivers has been facing challenges after a disagreement between Wike and his successor, Fubara who did not attend the recent congress. The event was attended by various party members, including current and former lawmakers, ex-council chairmen, and others loyal to the Wike tendency in the party.
