JUST IN: 10 Travelers Kidnapped In Rivers Waterway

At least 10 people traveling by boat between Bonny and Port Harcourt are feared to have been kidnapped by sea pirates.

Details are still unclear, GWG.ng gathered that the incident happened early Monday morning, involving 10 passengers on the Bonny-Port Harcourt waterway.

The Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union in Rivers State, Israel Pepple, confirmed the event during a phone call. He said, “This is not just a rumor; it’s real. Ten people were kidnapped this morning while traveling from Bonny to Port Harcourt. We have informed the security agencies.”

When contacted, the police public relations officer also confirmed that they were aware of the situation. He said the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, had ordered Deputy Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju, along with other officers in the area, to ensure the safe release of the victims as soon as possible.
