The Presidency has dismissed reports of an alleged discord between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, labeling them as baseless and misleading.

The rumors of a discord, which have been circulating widely, were denounced as mere fabrications aimed at undermining the strong relationship between President Tinubu and his deputy, Shettima.

In a statement issued by Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, on the occasion of the Vice President’s 58th birthday, it was emphasized that there was no tension between Tinubu and Shettima. Nkwocha highlighted that no Vice President in Nigeria’s history has enjoyed as much trust and support from their principal as Shettima does from President Tinubu. He further described Shettima’s loyalty to Tinubu as “absolute and unalloyed,” a sentiment shared by many observers who have closely monitored the dynamics within the Presidency.

Nkwocha praised Shettima for his consistent support of President Tinubu, describing him as a model of dedication and commitment and as such pooh-poohed the assertions of discord. He noted that Shettima’s recent praise of Tinubu, where he called the President a “good soul” and a leader Nigerians can rely on, was sincere and reflected the Vice President’s genuine admiration for his boss.

Contrary to the speculations of discord, the Presidency emphasized that the partnership between Tinubu and Shettima represents a new era of harmonious collaboration, a stark contrast to the strained relationships often seen between past presidents and their deputies. Nkwocha also refuted recent conspiracy theories suggesting that Shettima is being sidelined, asserting that these claims are entirely disconnected from the reality at Aso Rock, where the Vice President continues to work closely with the President in driving their shared vision for Nigeria.
