The Briton accused of sponsoring the #EndBadGovernance in Nigeria, Andrew Wynne, has accused operatives of the Nigeria Police Force of illegally breaking into his Abuja bookshop and stealing his granddaughter’s bicycle during a nighttime raid on July 7 at Labour House in Abuja.

On Monday, the Nigeria Police declared Wynne wanted and offered a N20 million reward for information leading to his capture, along with another person, Lucky Obiyan, said to be his accomplice.

Speaking via WhatsApp on Tuesday, Wynne told a Punch reporter that the Nigerian government has no real evidence against him.

He also urged the government to focus on solving the country’s poverty problem, which he says has worsened over the past 15 months.

Wynne said, “Yes, but as I am completely innocent, they have no evidence against me. The government just wants to blame me, as a foreigner, for the massive protests. They need to address the massive poverty that has got much worse in the last 15 months.

“I am concerned for the detainees who have been arrested and tortured. The NLC needs to take action to get them freed.

“I wrote to them on WhatsApp. They started talking but asked me no questions and then stopped. I have not committed any crime, and the police know that.

“They took all my books from Iva Valley Bookshop, they ransacked my home and stole my granddaughter’s bicycle, and yet they still found no evidence,” Andrew Wynne said.

Meanwhile, an arrest warrant has been issued for the wanted Briton by a Federal High Court in Abuja, over allegations bordering on treason and terrorism.
