NYSC DG Sets Time For Payment Of New Allowee
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has reassured serving corps members that their monthly allowances will be increased once civil servants begin receiving the new minimum wage.
The NYSC DG who made the assurance on the allowances spoke during visits to the Kebbi State Orientation Camp in Dakingari and the Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko. In both locations, General Ahmed emphasized the significant contributions that corps members make to Nigeria’s socioeconomic development, underscoring that their efforts are highly valued.
He urged corps members to take full advantage of the service year to develop themselves and prepare for future opportunities. He also encouraged them to participate in the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to acquire vocational skills that would enable them to become self-reliant.
This announcement of the possible increase of NYSC allowances comes on the heels of the recent agreement between the federal government, led by President Bola Tinubu, and the Organized Labour on a new national minimum wage of ₦70,000. The bill, which was passed by the National Assembly and signed into law by President Tinubu, will set the stage for increased allowances for corps members as part of the broader wage adjustment for civil servants.
