A young man, who claims to have been a staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu, has taken to social media to express deep regret over his actions during the 2023 presidential elections.

In a video that has gone viral, the supporter who was full of regret admitted to participating in violent acts against those who did not support Tinubu at the polls.

The man, whose identity has not been verified, confessed that he was among a group of individuals who went door-to-door in the Idi-Oro area, allegedly attacking residents who refused to vote for Tinubu, popularly known as “Jagaban.” He recounted how they flogged and intimidated people, ensuring that they voted for Tinubu.

“I voted for Jagaban. I was among those that flogged people who refused to vote Tinubu at Idi-Oro. We went from house to house attacking people who didn’t vote for Jagaban,” the young man confessed in the video, his voice heavy with regret.

However, his enthusiasm for the candidate he once fervently supported has since waned. The Tinubu supporter now expressing regret for the violence he confessed to having participated in during the election. “Today, I am regretting,” he lamented, clearly disheartened by the turn of events since the election.

“Our cars break down on the road, and we get robbed of our phones. We are suffering. Those of us who work are struggling to make ends meet, and we are labeled lazy in our own country. Task force officials, LASMA, VIO, and other agencies are on our backs, and we face fines as transporters. ‘Jagaban, find a solution to this.

“We were the ones flogging people old enough to be our fathers just to make them vote for you. Now, what have we gained except suffering? Rice is expensive, and food prices are so high that N1,000 is not enough for a decent meal. I had N1,200 for food this morning, and my children are at home with empty stomachs. Why? Look at where our support has led us.

“I know I might be beaten for saying this, but I am also a tout, and we are all thieves. The fact remains that we are suffering after all the flogging we did.”

The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning the use of violence and coercion in the electoral process with many not sparing the Tinubu supporter despite his expression of regret.
