Dino Melaye Predicts When PDP Will Disintegrate

Former Senator Dino Melaye has once again sounded the alarm over the future of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), predicting that the party will soon become irrelevant and eventually disintegrate.

The outspoken politician, who previously represented Kogi West, placed the blame for the party’s decline squarely on the shoulders of its current leadership.

In a scathing post shared on his official X account on Saturday, Melaye pointed fingers at the PDP’s National Chairman and National Secretary, accusing them of mishandling the party’s affairs. He claimed that their actions have led the once-dominant opposition party down a path of destruction.

GWG.ng reports that Melaye had previously declared the PDP “dead,” remarking that the party’s founding fathers would be turning in their graves if they saw its current state. In his latest comments, he reiterated his belief that the party is on the brink of collapse, describing the situation as a “Greek tragedy” playing out in real-time.

“The beginning of the end of the former biggest political party in Africa is being orchestrated by Damagun, Ayanwu, and others,” Melaye wrote. “The so-called No. 1 opposition party is steadily moving towards irrelevance and eventual disintegration with the inexorability of a Greek tragedy. All thanks to agents of destruction.”

Dino Melaye had also previously accused the national chairman of the PDP of being overly loyal to former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, who now serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government. According to Melaye, this misplaced loyalty has contributed to the party’s internal crisis.

As Melaye’s warnings echo through political circles, many are left wondering about the future of the PDP, which once held sway as the largest political party in Africa. With growing internal divisions and the loss of key figures, the party faces mounting pressure as it seeks to remain relevant in Nigeria’s ever-changing political landscape.
