Only God Will Judge, Finidi Opens Up On Spat With Osimhen, Says Player Refused To Apologise
Former Super Eagles coach, Finidi George has opened up on his spat with Victor Osimhen saying the player has not apologised for his social media outburst against him.
Recall that Osimhen took to his Instagram page in June to say that he has lost his respect for Finidi George because the coach reportedly said he wouldn’t beg him to play for Nigeria.
This happened after Osimhen missed Nigeria’s 2026 AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June due to fitness problems.
Finidi, now coaching Rivers United in the Nigeria Premier Football League, said he tried to fix things by contacting Osimhen, but the striker did not respond to his efforts.
“I sent him a message that it was not the best way, just someone telling you that coach said that and you’re talking about me like I said it in an interview,” coach Finidi told Nigeria Info FM.
Finidi shared that after sending his message, Osimhen did not reply, but he has decided to let go of the situation and move forward.
“From that point, I didn’t hear from him, I moved on, and I wish everybody well; only God will judge,” the former Nigeria international added.
When asked about the suggestion of sanctioning Osimhen with a ban from the Super Eagles, Finidi George declined to comment, saying, “I don’t know, he is there already, let him be. We cannot crucify him; he has made a mistake, we have moved on, and life goes on.”
