NULGE Chairman Dies At Petrol Station Queuing For Fuel

Oluwatuyi Olasoji Gabriel, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Akure South Local Government, Ondo State, has tragically passed away.

The NULGE official collapsed while waiting in line to buy fuel in Akure, amid the ongoing nationwide petrol scarcity. He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, where he later died after undergoing surgery.

The incident occurred as Nigeria grapples with severe fuel shortages, causing long queues at filling stations that disrupt daily life. Motorists continue to express frustration as transport fares have doubled, leaving many stranded at bus stops.

In response to the scarcity, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) reassured the public that the situation is expected to improve soon. According to NNPCL, the market has been deregulated, and petrol prices are now influenced by market forces and the exchange rate, rather than government control. However, many Nigerians are still struggling with the immediate impact of the fuel crisis.
