Edo: Appeal Court Affirms Akpata As Labour Party Candidate

The Court of Appeal in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday reaffirmed Olumide Akpata as the Labour Party’s (LP) governorship candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.

Earlier, in June, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja had dismissed a lawsuit challenging Akpata’s nomination as the LP candidate for the upcoming September 21 election.

In his ruling, Justice Omotosho supported the defense presented by Akpata’s lawyer, Johnson Usman (SAN), stating that the plaintiffs lacked the legal standing to bring the case to court.
