In a bid to alleviate the hardship on state workers, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved a new policy granting officers on Grade Levels 01-14 two days off duty per week. Officers on Grade Levels 15-17 will continue to receive one day off duty each week.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Ogun State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, who emphasized that the initiative is intended to ease the burden on workers facing increased hardship. Onasanya noted that the extra time off is expected to not only reduce expenses for workers but also boost productivity by creating a more energized and motivated workforce.

Governor Abiodun, first introduced a one-day-off-per-week policy for all grade levels in July 2023. The new expansion to two days for lower-level officers reflects the administration’s ongoing efforts to support workers during tough economic times.

Onasanya urged all accounting officers to implement the policy immediately across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, ensuring that service delivery remains uninterrupted. The head of service highlighted that the new work schedule will be carefully organized to maintain efficiency and productivity in government operations.

Governor Abiodun’s latest move reinforces his dedication to creating a supportive environment for civil servants, with the ultimate goal of enhancing both worker satisfaction and public service delivery.
