PDP Chieftain Regains Freedom After Six Days in Captivity

Benedict Akika, a prominent chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and a staunch loyalist of Governor Seyi Makinde, has regained his freedom after being kidnapped from his Ibadan residence six days ago.

GWG.ng reports that Akika was released following the kidnapping that took place when gunmen stormed his home in the Olorunda area of Ibadan. He was abducted and whisked away to an undisclosed location. His sudden disappearance left the local community in shock, and his loyalists quickly organized interdenominational prayers, seeking divine intervention for his safe return.

Reports indicate that Akika was freed and immediately taken to a medical facility for assessment, though the specific location has not been disclosed. As of the time of reporting, it remains unclear if a ransom was paid to secure his release.

Chief Akika’s abduction and subsequent release have drawn attention to the rising insecurity in the region, with many calling for stronger measures to combat the threat of kidnapping.
