Peter Obi, Trump Birds Of The Same Feather – Presidency

The Nigerian Presidency made a comparison between Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

This comparison was drawn by Temitope Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity. Ajayi highlighted several similarities between the two politicians and their approaches.

Ajayi’s comments followed a U.S. presidential debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. He noted that both Trump and Obi are known for using negative language when talking about their respective countries.

According to Ajayi, “Peter Obi is the Nigerian version of Donald Trump. Like Obi, Trump uses the most negative epithets imaginable to describe a country he wants to lead again, just to make a point and rile up his base.”

Ajayi also praised Kamala Harris for her strong performance in the debate, saying that she effectively countered Trump’s arguments by understanding his weaknesses. “Kamala Harris prosecuted Trump very well in their first face-to-face debate last night. Kamala convincingly won the debate and left no one in doubt about her capacity,” Ajayi said.

He further mentioned that fact-checkers found Harris made only one incorrect statement during the debate, while Trump made 33 false claims within the same 90-minute period.
