FG Declares Public Holiday
The Federal Government has officially announced Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
In a statement, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, extended heartfelt congratulations to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world. Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, relayed Tunji-Ojo’s message, emphasizing the significance of the holiday for reflection on values such as patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
The Minister encouraged Nigerians to use this festive period as an opportunity for prayer and to seek enduring peace and prosperity for the nation. He called on the Muslim Ummah to pray for an egalitarian society and a more prosperous future.
