Naira Marley Slammed For Mocking Mohbad In New Song
Nigerian rapper Naira Marley is facing criticism for allegedly mocking the late singer Mohbad in his song with artist Zinoleesky.
During the first anniversary of Mohbad’s death, Naira Marley’s song “Abanikanda” started trending on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
The song includes a controversial lyric: “Leave that opp boy in a casket.” This line refers to Mohbad, whom Marley calls ‘oppo,’ a slang term for opposition or enemy. Another lyric mentions Sam Larry, an associate of Naira Marley who has also been controversial.
Many Nigerians have previously accused Naira Marley and Sam Larry of being involved in Mohbad’s death. This has led to calls for a boycott of Marlian Music, Naira Marley’s record label.
After the lyrics went viral, fans of Mohbad condemned Naira Marley for being insensitive and continuing to harass Mohbad even after his death.
See some reactions below:
@lifeofolaa: Guys stay away from any friend wey still dey support this nairamarley and marlians ooo

@Oladapomikky1: In this life no let anybody kpai you….
@localwerey: Naira has always been good with negative PR. This is what he wants, for attention to be on the song. Why don’t we continue ignoring him as we have been doing? It’ll take out his relevance.
@OsebiFy: The reason Naira Marley and samlary is walking freely is because Nigeria is deeply corrupt. If this had happened in US or UK the inquest into mohbad murder will have been completed in his killers prosecuted. No justice in Nigeria. Worse of it are those listening to his music. Sad
@Kellybonito_: God punish whoever dey collect Marlian PR or support Naira Marley or Zion
@MissyDumelo: It’s just lyrics guys… it’s not even written in English so how yall understand what he saying

Mohbad family should go and look for evidence and justice for their son, we the general public has done our best. It’s time to leave Naira Marley alone
@LuckyGoldx: ..why is he being insensitive? the song and lyrics was so unnecessary.
