Workers Injured And Trapped As Two-Storey Building Collapses In Delta
A two-storey building under construction collapsed in the Okpanam community of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State, trapping some workers.
The building, located near Asaba Airport and next to a Nigerian Police Station (formerly SARS), fell after heavy rain on Saturday, causing panic among nearby residents.
Witnesses reported that some trapped workers had been rescued, but the search for others has continued. A worker named Unor confirmed that several people were injured when they jumped from the second floor to escape. A few managed to get away without harm.
Unor told reporters that the injured were taken to the hospital. He also mentioned that “As we talk, everybody has left the site and you know for fear of police arrest, some of the people in charge of the building have gone into hiding. Some persons around the estate actually came to assist in the rescue of victims after the collapse of the building.”
