The Oyo State Government has officially prohibited headteachers and teachers from holding meetings during school hours, both within and outside public school premises.

This directive banning teachers from holding meetings during school hours was announced by the Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, during an inspection of school resumption activities in Ibadan.

Dr. Adeniran explained that the ban was part of efforts to ensure strict adherence to the unified school timetable in all public schools across the state.

“This is a clear warning to all headteachers and teachers to desist from holding any form of meetings during school hours,” he said. “Any primary school headteacher caught engaging in such activities will face strict disciplinary action.”

The SUBEB chairman urged unions and associations within the basic education sector to comply with the new policy as the academic session begins, emphasizing the importance of uninterrupted learning hours for students.

Dr. Adeniran also instructed Education Secretaries to circulate the directive to all headteachers within their respective Local Government Universal Basic Education Authorities, ensuring the policy is implemented across the state.

This new rule aims to enhance the quality of education by maximizing the time spent in classrooms and minimizing disruptions during school hours.
