Drama has erupted in Edo State over the status of the candidate of Accord in the election given the supremacy battle between the two men on the ticket

An unprecedented open war between the INEC-recognized candidate of Accord for this weekend’s governorship election in Edo State, Kennedy Iyere and the running mate, Dr Bright Enabulele over their status in the election has burst out.

GWG.ng reports that though Iyere is listed as the candidate for the Edo guber, Dr Bright Enabulele has claimed the ascendancy as the candidate of Accord for the election. According to him having been initially chosen to be Iyere’s running mate, the party decided to turn the table and substituted the candidate with his name.

“He announced me as his running mate but the party made a substation and I emerged as the candidate,” Enabulele who has a Masters Degree in Business Administration revealed to TVC News.

He further dismissed Iyere as unserious for the contest questioning why he has not surfaced the state for campaigns since the conclusion of the primaries.

Enabulele was understood to have financially contributed to the emergence of Iyere as candidate.

GWG.ng reports that despite the assertions of Enabulele that INEC maintains Iyere as the Accord candidate and Enabulele as the running mate in the Edo election due this Saturday.

Enabulele, however, dismissed the claim as he insisted that the world would know the real candidate after the election.

Enabulele who claims to be the leading candidate for the election dismissed the contentions over the candidacy of Accord as a distraction being fanned by those against his agenda to eliminate poverty in Edo State.

Enabulele who is from Edo South also dismissed contentions for power shift from Edo South to Edo Central saying that whatever power arrangements agreed in the past was between the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“I cannot defend the sin I did not commit, we are talking about meritocracy, competence.”

“I supported Ambrose Alli though he was an Esan man and I am here to continue from where he stopped,” Enabulele said of his aspiration for the people of Edo State.
