Last week, a SuperSpar supermarket in Hartebeespoort, South Africa, became the center of attention after a group of naked women staged a protest.

Their unusual action was reportedly in response to a previous confrontation with the store’s manager, who had asked them to leave because their presence allegedly made some white customers uncomfortable.

The manager purportedly claimed that their presence was making white customers uncomfortable. This incident was perceived by the women as discriminatory and led to their public demonstration of their nudity.

The women involved are members of the Zulu tribe, who traditionally embrace a form of nudity in their culture. In Zulu customs, women often dress with minimal clothing, typically just a small piece of cloth to cover their private areas while leaving their breasts and buttocks bare. The manager’s remarks reportedly led them to stage this protest as a form of cultural expression and resistance.

The video of the protest, which was posted on X (formerly Twitter) by @Naija_PR, showed the women shopping in the store without clothes, with some pushing shopping carts and others simply walking through the aisles. The footage has sparked widespread reactions online, with some condemning the act, others expressing shock, and many turning the situation into a subject of humor.

This protest highlights ongoing tensions around race, cultural identity, and discrimination, raising questions about respect and understanding of cultural practices in public spaces.
