In a night full of surprises, Daniel Dubois delivered a shocking upset by knocking out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round, retaining his IBF heavyweight championship at Wembley Stadium.

The fight ended dramatically at 0:59 of the fifth round, confirming Dubois’ dominance in the ring.

With this victory, Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) showed his power and skill, dropping Joshua multiple times throughout the match. He knocked down Joshua in the first, third, and fourth rounds before finishing with a powerful right hand in the fifth. This performance has positioned Dubois as a rising force in the heavyweight division.

“I’m a gladiator, just a warrior to the end,” Dubois shared in his post-fight interview. “I want to reach the top level in this game. It’s a redemption story, and I won’t stop until I reach my potential.”

Dubois started strong, showing no fear of his opponent. He attacked Joshua from the opening bell, leaving the former two-time champion struggling to defend himself. By the end of the first round, Joshua was already on the canvas, signaling the difficult night ahead.

Despite his efforts, Joshua couldn’t find his rhythm. He was badly hurt in the third round and nearly knocked out of the ring. Although he got up twice in the fourth round, his attempts to recover were unsuccessful.

In the fifth round, Joshua briefly turned the momentum by landing a solid punch on Dubois. However, when he rushed to finish the fight, Dubois countered with a crushing right hand that ended the bout.

This defeat is a tough blow for Joshua, who was aiming for bigger matchups against Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk.

Reflecting on the loss, Joshua said, “I’m a fighter for life. We rolled the dice and came up short. I had a sharp opponent, a fast opponent, and there were a lot of mistakes on my end.”

For Dubois, this victory opens up exciting new possibilities. While he has previously lost to Usyk, his impressive win against Joshua shows he is ready to compete with the best in the division.
