Edo Showdown: APC Mocks As INEC Refuses Obaseki Audience (Videos)
The All Progressives Congress, APC was on Sunday morning jubilating after Governor Godwin Obaseki was refused audience at the INEC collation centre, Benin following dramatic events overnight PDP enthusiasts claimed overturned the projections of the party’s victory in the Edo State governorship election.
GWG.ng reports that PDP Situation Room had posted projections of a victory last night with Dr Asue Ighodalo leading with a margin of more than 20,000 votes.
However, by early morning that projection was in doubt as the APC situation room was in celebration over the prospects of the party’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebhelo now in the lead.
APC situation room was turned around to celebration as party operatives turned to signing songs of praise to God.
GWG.ng reports that Ighodalo had about the time stormed the INEC headquarters to complain that his agents were stopped from entering the INEC headquarters after collation of results in Oredo and Ikpoba-Okha were suddenly stopped and moved to the headquarters.
GWG.ng was unable to confirm the success of his efforts. Meanwhile, Governor Obaseki himself stormed the INEC headquarters and was pictured using texting with his mobile but it was gathered that he was unable to meet with the authorities at the centre.
Before then, Osarodion Ogie, the PDP running mate disclosed that collation for Ikpoba-Okha was relocated by an unnamed AIG from Western Boys High School, Benin to INEC headquarters. He further lamented that at the INEC headquarters, PDP agents were stopped from entering and when eventually they were allowed, were not allowed to partake in the collation.
Meanwhile, the frustrations of the PDP were on Sunday morning being cheered by the APC.
The APC national secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru in a video he shared just before dawn on Sunday morning hailed INEC for refusing audience to Governor Obaseki.
