Veteran Nigerian actor Patrick Doyle has openly criticized the popular phrase “I Am Chosen,” which is often chanted by members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries.

In a Facebook post, Doyle called the phrase “nonsensical” and argued that it does not align with Christian teachings.

He stated, “The phrase ‘I am a chosen,’ as used by members of the religious sect called ‘Chosen,’ should never be connected to the Body of Christ.” Doyle emphasized that when members chant this phrase, they do not have Jesus in mind. Instead, their admiration is directed solely at their General Overseer and the sect he established. He pointed out, “The phrase does not mention or even imply Jesus in any way.”

Doyle continued, “To infer that the nonsensical phrase is remotely connected to giving glory to the name or person of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is to make a mockery of our faith.” He added that bloggers and content creators using the phrase are not mocking the Church of God but rather the sect and its founder.

His criticism follows the spotlight on some outstanding testimonies shared by some members of the church.

GWG.ng reports that social media users have shared videos of congregants recounting miraculous experiences, which have sparked considerable debate online.

In one video, an elderly woman claimed she had disarmed four armed robbers, which led to the arrest of three of them. Another testimony featured a man who stated he survived a kidnapping, multiple machete assaults, and gunshots without any injuries.
