Bobrisky: FG Orders Probe Into NCoS Bribery Allegations

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has launched a probe into claims of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) principally alleging that controversial cross dresser, Bobrisky bribed his way out of prison.

The probe over the controversy that Bobrisky did not serve prison term is part of a broader effort by the federal government to address misconduct in the service.

In a statement on Wednesday, released by his media aide, Babatunde Alao, the Minister expressed strong disapproval of the alleged acts. He emphasized that the Ministry has zero tolerance for corruption, indiscipline, or unprofessional behavior in the paramilitary services under its supervision.

“The Ministry will not tolerate any compromise on its core values of integrity, transparency, and accountability,” Tunji-Ojo stated. He promised that all efforts would be made to eliminate corruption, and those found guilty would face the law.

The Minister has directed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, to lead a special investigative team. He assured the public that the probe would be thorough, transparent, and fair, and that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any officer involved.

This investigation by the federal government comes after allegations made by popular figure Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky. In a viral video shared by social media influencer, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky claimed he paid ₦15 million to some Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials to drop a money laundering charge against him.

Recall that Bobrisky was released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on August 5 after serving six months for naira abuse, a charge he pleaded guilty to.
