Popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has refuted bribery allegations made against him by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

The controversy began when VeryDarkMan released a viral audio recording, in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed that unnamed officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) collected N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges.

In response to the audio, the EFCC swiftly reacted. The Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, announced on Tuesday that its Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had ordered an immediate investigation into the claims.

However, in an Instagram post on Wednesday morning, Bobrisky vehemently denied the bribery allegations. He stated that he did not pay any EFCC officer to drop the charges, adding that he had served his full jail term for the alleged offence.

“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC N15 million, and that I was never in prison… I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information,” Bobrisky wrote in the post.

The social media sensation went further to label the viral audio as fake, urging the public to ignore any misleading information about his case and affirming that he had fulfilled his sentence without any underhand dealings.

This development has added more fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding Bobrisky’s legal troubles, as the EFCC’s investigation into the bribery claims is expected to provide clarity in the coming days.
