Maverick musician Seun Kuti has shared the part he played in the ongoing controversy between cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

Recall that VeryDarkMan released an audio recording on Tuesday night, allegedly featuring Bobrisky admitting that he bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with ₦15 million to have money laundering charges against him dropped.

In the recording, Bobrisky was quoted as claiming that, despite being convicted and sentenced to six months in prison, he never spent a single day behind bars. Instead, he said his godfather arranged for him to serve his time in a lodge rather than in a jail.

On Wednesday morning, however, Bobrisky denied these claims. He stated that the viral recording was fake and insisted that he had indeed served his prison term.

In response to the unfolding saga, Seun Kuti revealed that he was the one who encouraged VeryDarkMan to expose Bobrisky. According to Kuti, after being informed about the recording, he urged the influencer to bring the information to light. Reflecting on their time in Kuje prison, Kuti stated that it was not right for Bobrisky to avoid serving his sentence outside prison. During an Instagram live session, Kuti explained, “You people are late to the party. I was the first person VeryDarkMan informed about the story. When he asked me whether he should bring it to the open, I told him, ‘Talk am’—which means go ahead and say it.”

Meanwhile, the EFCC has summoned both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to its Lagos office. They have been invited to assist in the ongoing investigation into the ₦15 million bribery allegation involving EFCC officials.
