BREAKING: Israel Confirms Killing Of Hezbollah Leader, Nasrallah
The leader of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah has been killed, the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF has just reported.
GWG.ng reports the IDF as saying that “Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world,” in its Twitter account. The post was made just at about 9.00 a.m. Nigerian time.
GWG.ng World Affairs Editor reports that the confirmation that Hassan Nasrallah has been killed follows the suspense that had followed the massive strikes on Beirut on Friday. The bombardment followed what Israeli sources claim as precise intelligence on the gathering of Hezbollah commanders at a location in Beirut.
The killing of the most high-profile militia leader in the Middle East is bound to echo around the world in the days to come.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah has yet to confirm the news coming out from Israel that its leader, Hassan Nasrallah has been killed.
GWG.ng reports that while Israel has held back from saying if Nasrallah was a target, insisted that the strikes were directed at Hezbollah command and control centres and also at ammunition depots.
GWG.ng reports the BBC as saying that Israel’s military said it carried out a “very accurate” strike on Hezbollah headquarters earlier, but it has not stated whether Nasrallah was the target
Air strikes continued into Saturday morning in southern Beirut, with thick smoke rising over several locations in Dahieh, an area known to be seriously populated by Hezbollah.
The Israeli military said that it was “attacking” targets in the Bekaa Valley on Saturday morning after detecting a rocket fired from Lebanon
On Friday, Lebanese officials said six people were killed and 91 injured in an air strike, with local officials saying that nearly 800 people have been killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon since Monday.
GWG.ng reports that the Israeli strikes are upon the insistence that Hezbollah must stop the attacks on Northern Israel.
Israel says its mission is to ensure that the North of Israel is protected from attacks that escalated after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
