The ongoing saga involving Nigerian media influencer Vincent Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, and the prominent Falana family has attracted significant online attention, with notable political activist and Obidient First Lady, Aisha Yesufu offering her perspective on the matter.

In a post on her X platform, Yesufu expressed her astonishment at the reactions surrounding the situation. Her statement ignited a divided response among netizens, with some supporting her views and others criticizing her stance.

Aisha Yesufu stated, “In the last few days I have been aghast at the thinking of so many. Many think they own you when you speak against injustice or stand for someone. If the Falanas let this go unchallenged, the same people will say that they are guilty of what they are accused of. Now they are taking it up, they say it is oppression. The same person did say they should clear their names, and that is exactly what they are doing.”

She further emphasized the need for balance in addressing both corruption and defamation. “For those who feel that the focus should be on the corruption and not Falanas taking on a defamation case, have you ever heard of multitasking? Both can be done. If the guy in the video has evidence to the accusations, then he goes to court; otherwise, tender the apologies and let everyone move on.”

Yesufu expressed her frustration over the disregard for reputation, saying, “Because many do not care about their reputation, they feel others shouldn’t. You want to tarnish a family’s hard-earned name, and you think they should let it go. What nonsense is that! The corruption case can go hand in hand!”

This conflict began when VeryDarkMan leaked a phone call involving crossdresser Bobrisky, which included mentions of Falz and his father, Femi Falana, a well-known human rights lawyer.

In response to the leaked call, Folake Falana, Femi’s daughter, issued a warning to VeryDarkMan, stating that they would take legal action unless he retracted his statements and issued an apology.

The situation continues to unfold, drawing attention to broader issues of accountability, reputation, and the complexities of justice in Nigeria.

Below are some of the reactions gathered:

 @Adaete1: Bobrisky tarnished Falana’s image. VDM didn’t!

@NoLimitEnzo1017: Did bob enter apartment or prison?

@VeronicaMadu1: I wonder what VDM wants. If going to court would clear the air then…

@OriginaLeeWey: Madam Aisha

How has the focused moved from the corruption to falana been an angel?

You all are exactly what you condemn Tuehhh

@MentusNnaemeka: I think the guy prefers to be arrogant and test the waters than simply say he is sorry to have said what he has without having substantial evidence.

@OriginaLeeWey: Mama you no smart as we think oo

Smh na wah

@HosannaSZN: He insinuated with words like “Ahbi” is falz gay! I don’t think it’s a wrong word to use.

But Falz can say “Mr Yakubu E ma n se hi fraudster “??

@UgwuKen30483798: All this essay but im sure ba hate you use watch that video

@im1Awire: VDM did the right thing with the wrong approach.

@ojo_abidem77168: I’m highly disappointed that you are advocating for apologies. Why not ask the source of the voice recording to clear the air on the names he mentioned. Don’t be myopic !. The Falanas have said they are going to court, so let it be. A lot will be revealed in court.

@medjay_n: Your argument overemphasizes legal action for preserving reputation, while public perception is influenced by more than lawsuits. Prioritizing corruption over personal grievances is more impactful and better for long-term integrity.

@Balogun58322373: Now I can believe you are not for the people but for your self interest if you can say this

@AishaYesufu

@D_1Saint: Dr kemi Olunloyo alleged that the Falanas buy seized properties from efcc under controversial circumstances yet it’s only Vdm you all are focused on. Isn’t that defamation too? Rogues in high places

@NwankwoFaithCh3: If they want to clear their name,let them go after the person that clearly mentioned their name in that audio so as to discourage others from tarnishing their name in future,not going after the person that brought it to their notice.

@suunyume: Falanas should prove they ain’t guilty. VDM has nothing to prove here. It’s on the falanas and I think they are doing just that.

@oba_grandson: For we to overcome corruption in Nigeria as a country.. many people name will go down if you like cry as long as your name was called in any corruption case even if your father this Jesus Christ we go still drag am for this internet
