Salah Overtakes Drogba As Top African Scorer
By Benjamin Abioye
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah made history on Wednesday by becoming the top African goalscorer in UEFA Champions League history.
Salah achieved this record during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Bologna. In the match, he provided an assist for Alexis Mac Allister’s opening goal and then scored his 45th goal in the competition with a signature curling shot from inside the box.
With this goal, Salah surpassed the previous record of 44 goals held by former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba. Samuel Eto’o, another legendary African player, remains in third place with 30 goals in the competition.
Salah’s achievement shows his great talent and consistency at the European level. His key performances highlight his importance to Liverpool’s attack and the growing impact of African players in international football.
