(Exclusive) Why Fubara Won’t Vote In Rivers LG Election

Despite leading the charge for the local government election to hold, Gov Siminalayi Fubara has opted not to vote in the ongoing poll in Rivers State. Emmanuel Aziken explains
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State will not vote in the ongoing local government election that he has fought so hard to ensure holds GWG.ng has learned.
The decision of the governor not to vote in the election is coming against the background of reports that the local government election proceeding without incident across the state.GWG.ng reports that the election commenced shortly before 9.00 a.m across the state minutes later than the 8.00 a.m earlier scheduled for the commencement of the election.
A source close to Governor Fubara said that the governor had decided not to vote in the election mainly because he saw himself as a father figure to all the parties partaking in the election. It was also being said that Governor Fubara may also have decided not to vote out of consideration that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was not participating in the local government election.
GWG.ng, however, reports that Fubara may have decided not to vote because his voting unit is in Opobo which is about two hours away from Port-Harcourt to enable him monitor developments in the light of the intrigues that have shadowed the election.
Meanwhile, the only major report of skirmish came from the faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC loyal to the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike which alleged that its headquarters in the state had been bombed. The factional chairman of the party, Tony Okocha promptly accused supporters of Governor Fubara of masterminding what was claimed to be an explosive attack. The extent of damage was not immediately available.
