Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has shared a personal and troubling experience of sexual harassment in an interview with SYMFONI TV.

In the video, Natasha, the first female senator from Kogi State recounted how a powerful individual attempted to exploit her vulnerability through sexual harassment when she approached him for assistance. Instead of offering help, the man made it clear that he expected sexual favours in return, leaving the senator shocked and deeply uncomfortable.

Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed her outrage at the inappropriate behaviour, stating that no one, regardless of their position, should face such exploitation when seeking support. The decision by Senator Natasha to speak out against sexual harassment has been widely applauded, highlighting a serious issue that many women face but often do not report.

“Sexual harassment is completely unacceptable, and we must stand up against it, no matter the person’s status or influence,” Senator Natasha said.

“I went to him for help, but he had other ideas. He made it clear that he expected sexual favours in return for his support.”

She urged others who have experienced similar situations to come forward and share their stories, emphasizing the importance of creating a culture of respect and dignity.

“We need to work together to build a society where no one has to compromise their dignity for assistance or opportunities,” she said. “We must raise awareness, educate people, and take action to ensure that this kind of behaviour is eradicated.”
