In an undisguised mockery of his bitter political rival, Nyesom Wike, Atiku Abubakar has hailed the electorate in Rivers State for rejecting political intimidation and self-serving godfathers during the Saturday local government election.

In a post shared on his official X handle, Atiku commended the people of Rivers State for their resilience and unity during the local government election, describing their participation as a powerful statement against political intimidation and manipulation.

Atiku highlighted that the peaceful conduct of the election, which took place across Rivers State, from Port Harcourt to Onne, exemplified the people’s rejection of political oppression and interference from self-serving political godfathers.

“As prophesied, it has now been revealed that the citizens of Rivers are astute and resolute, unwavering in their rejection of any form of political oppression, harassment, or the machinations of self-serving godfathers,” Atiku stated.

The former vice president urged the newly elected local government leaders to prioritize the welfare of their people, emphasizing the need for good governance and cautioning them against tyranny or personal ambition.

Furthermore, Atiku extended his praise to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, commending his leadership and commitment to ensuring that the local government election in Rivers State was conducted with fairness, even in the face of challenges.

“I must also applaud Governor Fubara for his unwavering commitment to the people’s interests, safeguarding the sanctity of the local government elections even amidst provocative challenges,” he added.

Atiku concluded by celebrating the triumph of democracy in Rivers State, affirming that the local government election process was a victory for the people, whose right to choose their leaders had been upheld.

The local government election saw the Action Peoples Party (APP) winning 22 of the 23 local government areas in the state, marking a significant shift in the political landscape of Rivers State.
